Water Buckets but an Empty Font

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone! Thankfully nothing insane happened here like there sometimes is but I hope everyone’s week was great!

So we were hoping to baptize our friend Pablo this week. If you don’t remember him, he’s the GOAT from a few weeks ago, please go read my emails or send me one asking 🙂 Anyways we passed by his house, called him, texted him, but every time was either sleeping or just didn’t respond to us till Friday when he goes “No estoy preparado para el bautimso” which is like yeah but we just wanted to pass by and chat/ share a lesson/scripture with you 😭 And then after telling us he’d come to church, guess what exactly he didn’t do 🙁

Our boy Alejandro left to Mendoza and might not be back for 2-3 months. We motivated him to stop sitting in the house, drinking, and other stuff to go find a job so like lets goo!!! But also why go to Mendoza (2 provinces away)☹️☹️

The Devotional by President Oaks was great! If you haven’t listened to it please do so. President Oaks, like every prophet, is amazing and just dropping bombs of quotes and straight doctrine. Also, I swear it was like being teased that Elder Gilbert was going to become the new Apostle. He was at the YSA event with Kearon, and then the Devotional with Oaks, and then another event with Oaks.

Élder Vargas and I helped a family fill a HUGE water tank. For a bit of explanation, how the water (for the most part) works here, water goes to a big water tank above the house and after goes to the rest of the house. This family has 2 of those. 1 in the ground and 1 above the house and we used buckets to take water from big barrels to fill the tank in the ground. All of that to say, I love being able to do service for people. It doesn’t happen a ton because people always say they are fine but when the opportunity comes it’s always great to be able to help people in other ways than just proselyting.

Spiritual Thought

This week I gave a talk in church about Missionary Work. I chose to talk about how anyone, anywhere, at anytime can help in this work. You do not need to wear a plack or have a calling. I read from three talks which I think perfect advise/ teachings on how we can do so:

I really do love these talks because they specifically talk about how “Invit[ing] others to come unto Christ” is not some grandiose thing but comes from love and the simple ways we can show our love of our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ to those whom we know and love. I love the saying “Every Member a Missionary” because we, at baptism, covenant to be

“willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death.” (Mosiah 18:9)

and every week we listen to the words in the sacramental prayers that we “are willing to take upon [us] the name of [Jesus Christ], and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given [us]”, with the second greatest commandment being to love our neighbor as ourselves. I invite you all, especially with Valentine’s Day just passed, to think of how you can show your love to others by sharing the Gospel with them, in small and simple ways.
