Spaceships and Dinosaur Attacks
Happy kinda late Easter everyone! I hope everyone was able to watch Conference and was visited by the Easter Bunny🐰🐰🐰
Lmk what cool things you all did for Easter/ General Conference! Did you make cinnamon rolls? Just please email me.
So Monday night we got a text from our District President asking if we can go give a Sister from the District (not missionary) a blessing who is in the hospital. Tuesday morning we coordinated with the proper parties and got to the hospital and let’s just say I gained a testimony of the US Healthcare system. I would rather rub an open wound in mud than be admitted to a hospital here. Anyways, the blessing went really well and the Sister is recovering.
We had interviews with the Mission President this week and they went really good. What I took away from it was the importance in seeing how we can strengthen the people where we are at and focusing on what we have done and how we can improve day by day over focusing on all the things we aren’t doing or everything we want to do. My comp and I almost (jokingly) brought up the idea of mission office cooks to our Mission President because everyone compliments our cooking and we’ve heard it being a thing in other missions but we forgot to mention it and also we don’t know how he’d take it lol.
We had an amazing spiritual lesson with our friend Yuli about temples and the importance of ordinances, starting with baptism. We brought a member of the Branch Presidency and his wife and all I gotta say is that there is no better feeling than being enveloped by the Spirit like that. If all goes well, she should get baptized this weekend.
Got to go on exchanges with an Élder Adam’s. He’s from Utah and a GOAT missionary. Him and my 2nd trainer are planning on living together in college so it was cool to hear what his plans are for when he gets home and some of his mission stories. We didn’t do much together but I did make my pasta for him to which he said he was dreaming about. Make me Mission Chef🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Space is so cool. We got to watch the Artemis II take off live at a members’ house here and I was acting like a little kid. After watching it, I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the night.
Transfers next week🥶🥶🥶
Spiritual Thought:
General Conference!!! Last conference was great but also I listened to all of the talks in Spanish so it was hard to get much out of them but this time I watched them in English and it is definitely true that GC is better on the mission.
I really liked the quote of Élder Mutombo where he says “Sunday will come.” I know its a quote from past general conference talks but especially when thinking about Easter, it’s just a great quote. There have been a few weeks here on the mission where they haven’t been so joyful and I am hyped for Sunday to be able to take the Sacrament. Sunday is the reset of the week. Despite what is going on in life, there is comfort knowing that rest is always assured. There will be a 7th day, but sometimes it just takes 6 “Mondays” to get there. I’m ranting but Jesus Christ is that rest. As we consciously take the bread and water each week, we are renewed, given rest, and strengthened for the trials that we are and will face.
Please let me know what’s going on in your lives. I do pray for you all and love to hear what you are doing at home. mwcurtis@missionary.org
