Long Time No See

Hey everybody! Sorry for not emailing for a few weeks. Here’s what happened:

When Santiago and Donna got baptized, this kid named Angel came to church and we wrote down his number to figure out where he lives. We passed by on Tuesday and put fecha with him for that Sunday. He said he loved the church and would love to be baptized. So we prepared him for that. He did get baptized that Sunday and it was a super cool baptism. Élder Lewis baptised him and first thing he says as he comes out of the water is “I feel like really good and peaceful. Idk why.” And Elder Lewis replies “of course bro. You just got baptized.”

I did divisions with this Peruvian named Élder Alderete. I replaced him in the area I started the mission in so we talked about JVG quite a bit. He’s a super good dude and speaks decent English. He once again made his “Arroz Chaufa” which was even better this time. I now have the recipe so Ima try to make it soon.

The next and last week of the transfer we had exchanges. I went with one newbie named Élder Good. He’s chill but barely speaks Spanish so I did 99% of the talking. During exchanges a certain convert asks if the church would be fine if he opened up a sex shop😭💀 so that was a fun conversation.

Then we had interviews. My interview lasted all of 3 minutes. I went in with a bunch of questions and as soon as I sat down all the questions bled out of my head. The only question I got out was if I was gonna stay or leave my area. He just said “there’s gonna be a lot of changes and one of them is you. We just aren’t sure where to put you yet.” What was cool was that after all of the interviews were done we came back to close the church and our MP offered to take us out to lunch. We thought he was joking and said yes but he actually did ended up taking us. It was cool getting to know him more and tell him a bit more about the mission that he didn’t know about.

We got transfer news and I figured out I was going to an area called Solis Pizarro. The missionaries get robbed here all the time so please pray I don’t make a dumb decision and put myself in a situation to be robbed. I am with an Élder Coleman. We have the same birthday and he has 1 transfer more than me in the mission.

My last Saturday we played soccer for a little activity and I was gassed. I genuinely had to lay down dead for a while afterwards and take a freezing cold shower. I thought I was gonna have some crazy blisters on my feet but thankfully no.

Sunday I didn’t get to give a final testimony because it was Stake Conference and we just watched a live stream. What I did get to do though was have a good last lunch. We ate cow head. I forget what it’s called in Spanish but they just cook a cow head in an oven for like 12-24 hours and they eat every part. I tried the cheek, tongue, brain, and eyeball. It was all not that good but a good experience for my last lunch.

I got to my new area and it’s pretty small. We dont use a good portion of it because 1: they are about to redraw ward boundaries so our app will change at any moment and 2: some parts we can and will get stabbed if we go there. We should pull out some baptisms though. This week we are going to baptise this 85% blind woman Daniela and her daughter Victoria. We might also baptise this kid named Maximo who is the son of an inactive member who lives directly in front of the church building. Idk how some ppl are inactive. We are also wanting to get this couple that the missionaries have been teaching forever married. They were gonna in June but then had a big fight. It seems like they’ve chilled out and we’ll see if we can get them (they also have a baptism age child😈).

Spiritual Thought:

For Zone Council this week I shared about Noah, Nephi, and the Brother of Jared and the stories of them building boats. I invited in a little activity my zone to look and the similarities and differences of how they build their boats and how we can apply it to our lives and missionary work.

Noah – Genesis 6:14-16
Nephi – 1 Nephi 17:8-16; 18:1-4
Brother of Jared – Ether 2:16-25

But also just go listen/watch/read General Conference. I liked how they just had a lot of short and strong talks, and they mentioned missionaries a lot so like wave to them or give them water or something.

Praying for you all!
