I ❤️ Messi
Hey everyone! Just another regular week in Argentina. Should be a shorter email.
We have 4 Elders here in my area again and it’s been such a blessing. Élder Araujo is from Lima, Peru and has about 6 months in the mission. He is training one Élder Esteves from Uruguay. He got blessed with his first area, and the companionship is already doing great.
We found the sister of a convert family and the first thing she asks us is how we baptize in the church and we explain that to her. We got her number and the next time we found her we had an amazing lesson on the Restoration and how personal and loving Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are. She almost cried and we gave her the invitation to pray about it and she said she would. Since then we haven’t been able to contact her really, so either she got her answer and is scared to act on it, or is just busy and hard to contact.
We had a fun ward activity where they made Locro for Argentine Independence Day. Still not as cool as America’s but still fun. They had a few people perform dances and music, and a ton of people came that aren’t members/we don’t know them so we’ve had a few contacts through that.
Argentina had the greatest comeback of all time and I watched it live while eating one of my favorite foods from here, guiso de lentejas.
Florencia decided she wants to get married before she gets baptized which is dope but her pareja does not like our church and then we asked if we could teach him. She said yes and then didn’t answer our messages when trying to coordinate, and then didn’t come to church so we will see this week what happens.
On Saturday I almost passed out. We were visiting a member who recently had a baby and she was telling us in explicit detail about her C-section. My vision went black and I couldn’t think straight for a bit. The member’s mom is a nurse so she checked my blood pressure and it was way low. So I don’t know if it was her explaining her C-section or my heart being bummy once again.
We’re pretty sure we’re teaching a trans person. Last week he/she stopped us in the street while we were on the phone and asked how to join the church. We taught he/she about baptism and then bro goes, “for a while I’ve wanted to meet with Elders”🤔 and then we had a lesson on Friday and bro kept asking where we lived and we mentioned that we are renting. Dawg made it VERY obvious that he/she lives alone and said, “You 2 could come live with me and I wouldn’t hardly charge you anything.” Like either we’re just judgmental and this is about to be an insane baptism or he/she will be a red point. We are 🤏 this close to making he/she a red point.
No one came to church on Sunday. But we had a super fun activity and the sister of an awesome member-family came. She seemed chill so we’re gonna try to teach her.
Pray for Argentina to win this week. They play England on Wednesday and then the final on Sunday.
Spiritual Thought:
On top of my regular studies, I’m trying to get back into studying about the temple. I have 2 books on the temple and another Pdf book about it. The book I’m currently reading is called My Endowment by Mark A. Shields. One point he makes so often in the book is that “coming to the temple is coming to Christ.” and how the temple is “the key to putting the Atonement into full practice in our lives.” The temple is so cool and as I study it more and more, I can tell that really everything there does point us to Christ. Go read a Russel M. Nelson talk about the temple and the promised blessings that come from consistent attendance.
Email me and let me know how you’re all doing!
