Hey everybody! Pretty good week her in Argentina!
Tuesday was just a regular work day but during the day we prepared to give a Zone Council which is basically like telling everyone that they need to baptize more and some cool stuff on how to do it.
Wednesday we did a Zone Council and it went super good. We talked about working by the Spirit and having the vision to baptize (basically seeing everyone in white and doing all that we can to actually get them in white).
Then on Wednesday evening and Thursday we did exchanges with some Elders in our Zone. Just for fun; no bad reason for the exchanges. I went with this cute little Peruvian named Elder Mercado. He’s a chiller. They have a super big area and are trying to figure out how to work it but are doing good. This other Peruvian in the house made what’s called “Arroz Chaufa” which is just like Chinese fried rice. We had some good lessons and then that companionship had a baptism on Saturday so we’re hyped for them.
Friday morning we did some more exchanges so we could do their friends’ baptismal interviews. They all passed but didn’t get baptized on Sunday for some communicational issues. Friday evening we went to our boy Gonzalo who earlier in the week said he was in Salta for 2 weeks for a work trip. We knocked on his door and then peeped through it and guess who wasn’t in Salta? He hid and sent out one of his kids to just be like “my dad isn’t home”. We’re hoping he gains some sense so we can teach him and get him baptized soon.
Saturday it was rainy and freezing cold so basically nothing happened but we had some good contacts
BAPTISMS
Santiago, the kid that lives right in front of us got baptized. His entire family came and the ward members were talking to them and remembered them, so hopefully they start coming back to church. I got to baptize him and before he was scared of getting water in his ears and I explained to him that it’s super quick and he calmed down. I told him how to plug his nose and did so for like 20 seconds before I even put him in the water haha.
Our other friend Donna got baptized. He’s such an elegido. He loves the church and the members and especially the Sacrament. He’s kinda zesty but is learning english so he’ll say some funny stuff in english. For example my companion baptizes him and right after he comes out of the water, he turns to Elder Lewis and goes “Holy sh*t, that was cool”.
Afterwards Santiago’s family brought some cake to share and it was sooo good. One was like strawberry jelly and jello cake. It was pretty freaking good.
Spiritual Part:
In Zone Council we shared a part of a devotional by Elder Bednar where he talks on the Spirit. He shares about Nephi and the verse in chapter 4:
6 And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.
He talks about how if we do our best, we will be led by the Spirit in what we do. As I was watching this part of the devotional, I realized that exactly happened with Santiago and his family. It started a month and some change back with Elder Daley and led to a child of God making a covenant and receiving the blessings of baptism. It’s a long story that I hope to share someday.
