On Pday we found cool shirts and I bought one that really spoke to me. It is 5XL and says on the back “I love one woman and several guns”. I hope to wear this one day and it be true.
We had 2 day divisions with the other Elders. The first day we did nothing because there was a big Haboob and then we had to wait for some workers to come to the apartment to give us a mirror, a rack to dry our clothes, an office fan, and 1 pillow. The next day nothing happened as well but we tried to teach the mom of the kid that was gonna be baptised on Sunday. We determined that until she prays about being baptized, she will not decide to do so.
After that lesson with Gladys we found a dog who followed us for like 20 minutes. He even followed us into a store so we named him Nefi (pronounced neh-fee). The owners kept asking if it was our dog and we said no that he was just following us and laughed when he just followed us out. He would wander off and then would teleport to me like a Minecraft dog, but at some point on a sidewalk he just sat down and stopped following us so I guess I accidentally left clicked or something.
We had another good lesson w Telma about the Plan of Salvation and confirmed a lesson to meet her husband but it fell through because her husband wasn’t home.
Claudia’s nephew is coming back next week and she will hopefully be able to go to church on Sunday. She is so hyped to go to church and I hope her nephew baptizes her.
Last week we found this member in the street that I had seen a few times but never could talk to him. We figured out where he lives and went to visit him and learned that he is 18 and a semi pro MMA fighter and has a fight in Buenos Aires in 2 weeks. He got baptized like 3 years ago, really wants to serve a mission, and go to the temple soon to be baptized for his dad who died just about a year ago. So when he becomes famous, everyone remembers that I met Benjamin Aban.
On Saturday night we found 3 guys that seem to be pretty interested in the church. 2 of them almost came, but 1 had to work and the other we don’t know. However, Juan Cruz, the GOAT, came to church again on Sunday. Hope he gets bapped soon.😭🙏
About a month ago we randomly found this inactive member from another area in my mission who moved to Buenos Aires for a while, went inactive, and then moved here to Perico. We found him by just walking by a door and hear in English “Hello, Elders.” Since he has been to church 3 times but his records got lost so the Bishop has been looking for them in his previous wards, but we didn’t see any progress. We visited him on Wednesday and he is a great guy, and really wants to be able to have a church account to sign in on Gospel Library and Tools. On Sunday right after the 2nd hour he had an interview with the Bishop, and got a text from the member (his name is Roberto) saying that they found his records and that he is now a member of the ward, has an account, and everything!
Spiritual Thought:
We have transfers this week and I think it’s a pretty 50/50 chance of whether I stay or not. I could stay just because they don’t wanna whitewash but I could leave because we haven’t baptized in 2 months and the Zone hasn’tbeen doing so hot either. I love this ward and don’t want to go, but I understand if it is so. On top of that the last group of “old” missionaries are going home this week. Élder Baker, my stepdad in the mission, just gave his final testimony. A lot of stuff is changing in the mission. I can see a baptism or 2 on the horizon, but with all of that, I feel fine. I have tried really hard to get people to be baptized in this area so far but to not much avail, but I know that what I have learned from this area and the mission so far is priceless. Nevertheless, I have seen success in small degrees and thank the Lord for such. I really don’t know where I am going with all this but to say that as much as I am a tool in the Lord’s work, it is His harvest.
