Demon Lady and Bappy

So Monday we went to a waterfall and it was dope. The missionary who kinda knew where yo go led us up a mountain when we coulda just walked like 20 feet to the left and gotten to the waterfall. We went like 100 feet up a loose rock incline and one Elder almost got a big rock to the face but he survived. We took some sick photos and chilled on a train track bridge for a while. I miss being outdoors so bad. The air is real. Then we had no service so we walked till we could hitchhike to a place with service.

Tuesday was Zone Conference. Pretty chill zone conference. Talked a lot about obedience and the Atonement.

The rest of the week was preparing Daniela and Victoria for baptism. Daniela is about 85% blind so it’s hard to have her read or anything and Victoria is a brat.

We found some other cool ppl that might get baptized. First was Antonio. We randomly found him and then I had to 1v1 him while my comp fid a baptismal interview over the phone. He is super interested in the church and wants to be baptized. (He slept in till 3pm on Sunday)

We also found Cintia. She speaks almost fluent English and she is interested in the church. She went a few times for activities when she was little and remembers “Praise to the Man” or “Loor al Profeta” in Spanish. We gave her an English BoM that she has been reading. We hope she gets baptized (She went to a funeral on Sunday)

We knocked on a door thinking it was gonna be an inactive member. It was an old lady that kept talking about how horrible the world is and how instead of preaching to people here, we need to preach to the horrible millionaires in California. Anytime we said something she would make some crazy ahh face. At the end she asked where my comp was, and then turns to me, in perfect english and accent “And you?”. We left.

Another guy came out of his house, seemingly possessed. I was more pissed than anything so we just left and he was like “NO!”

One day we got a text from one of the companionships in our zone saying this guy that was gonna get baptized is moving like the next morning to another Province and so he was no longer gonna be baptized. My comp and I called them to see the exact situation and decided to get over there ASAP and help the guy pack up some stuff, do the interview, and prep him for baptism later that day. He did end up getting baptized and how he lives in a cracked ward in JuJuy and lives close to his son.

Sunday we had a baptism of Daniela and Victoria. We went to their house at 8:30, not awake. Booked it to 2 other investigators’ house. Also not awake. We went to church, took the sacrament, I had to give my new Élder in the ward testimony, and we ran back to their house. They finally woke up and it took them 40 minutes to get ready. We went to church, pulled some teeth to get them into class, and then after a second hour Victoria decided she didn’t wanna get baptized. We tried talking to her about it but the 12 year old won. I baptized Daniela which was a bit difficult because without glasses she is completely blind.

Spiritual Thought:

One theme I found a lot in General Conference was that of having patience in trials. One verse that really stuck out to me was 1 Nephi 11: 16, 17

16  And he said unto me: Knowest thou the condescension of God?

17  And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.

We may ask why at times something is (or isn’t) happening in our lives. It’s easy to distance ourselves from God when we ask this, but it is, in the end, a blessing to stay focused on and love Christ. We can know that Heavenly Father loves us; nevertheless, not know the meaning of all things. We must have patience in our trials or the questions of our heart and waiting for righteous desires to be fulfilled.

Praying for you all! mwcurtis@missionary.org
