2 for 1
Another week here in Perico, but with 2 areas😭. Let me know how your week went! mwcurtis@missionary.org
So having 2 areas is pretty chopped. It feels like we’re doing a ton but also nothing. We are just trying to focus on the people that are close to baptism. We have 4 people that, with a miracle, could get baptized. Please pray for Gladys, Nahuel, Florencia, and Aldana. If 1 of them could get baptized this week it would be a miracle.
We also had some crazy odd occurrences. We knocked a door looking for Gladys and Nahuel and this guy comes out and tells us he doesn’t know where they live, and then goes “You guys are missionaries. I have 1 question for you guys.” And then he went on for 10 minutes about how it’s religion’s fault that there is corruption in the world and how we are doing but confusing people. Of course we didn’t take him seriously but I couldn’t help but feel bad for the guy. He just seemed like your classic miserable, only ever watches the news guy. What was odd though because he just kept saying we needed to be “retrained”? I just finally stopped him from talking and said sorry he feels that way but have a good night. As we walked away, he just goes “There’s only one God!”, which, like good observation dawg.
We knocked a door thinking it was a convert and this girl came out and she asks “Are you guys Mormons?” Which like yes, but no. She then tells us her mom is a mega inactive member and her cousin is this one girl who is a cracked member. We had a lesson with her and then the next day we passed by with said cousin.
We went to the house of someone who referred themselves to us and we had a short contact with this girl who is the niece of said reference. We gave her a card with the steps of prayer and invite her to pray over her lunch and then do a personal prayer later. We pass by a few days later and she goes “I did both your guys’ way of praying, it is a way better way of praying. Also, I know this one girl who is a member of your church.” And then she said the same member.
Invited 3 good progressing people to read and pray about the BoM and they all gave good yeses so we’ll see how that shapes out this week.
Finally refound this one ref of a member, Andrea who we had a lesson with last week. We left her on a full on cliff hanger of the Restoration because she wants to know which church is true. When we refound her, we taught her the Restoration and it made 100% sense to her, but she doesn’t want to go to church until she feels like it😭😭😭 we did invite her to pray about the BoM and it was a cool spiritual moment, but we’ll see how that goes this week.
Spiritual Thought:
This week I got to give a few blessings of health and each time was such a cool experience, especially since the majority were kids whose parents asked us to give them blessings. 1 of those kids ran up to me in lunch 2 days afterwards saying, “you’re the one who cured me.” and gave me a big hug (I didn’t have time to react). The others were an immediate difference. The priesthood is real and can truly work miracles.
