1.0 KDR

Buen dia everyone! I hope you are having the best Monday of your lives.

A lot of red this week in our plans aka no one was home or wanted to talk to us.

Taught a lot of the Restoration this week and invited 2 people to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. 1 was right in front of their Catholic ahh mom that tried telling us “Pretty story, but we’re Catholics.” The lesson wasn’t even directed at her because she came out of nowhere and I could tell from the second I saw her that she was Catholic. I testified of Christ, His Church, and of the Book of Mormon and she shut her yapper. Her daughter whom we were teaching said that she will read the BoM and pray about it so we’ll see what happens. The other one was this lady that we found that was taught about a year ago by some other Elders. She goes to the 7th day Adventist church, which is basically if we still followed the Law of Moses with some things, but don’t actually follow it. She had some questions which we answered (and she understood the Restoration as we explained it to her) but hit us with, “but I feel fine in my church and I know if I went to your church I wouldn’t feel any difference.” Testified and told her to pray about the Book of Mormon. She didn’t come to church but we’re gonna pass by this week and see if she did.

Élder Daley is dead. By that he finished his mission and went home. On Saturday we had his farewell and on Sunday night he headed for Salta to then get home on Wednesday. I loved the past 9 weeks with him; most time I’ve had with a companion so far. I’m staying in my current area 1 more transfer with one Élder Lewis. He is coming from Pichanal, where I served before coming here as well. Hopefully we’ll get a baptism or 2 before the end of this month. Please pray for the people in Perico! 🙏

Spiritual Thought:

I usually don’t read Come, Follow Me because I’m on a mission and usually just read mission type stuff but I did like this week’s about Job. After losing his house and his children dying, he gets boils all over his body. His wife despairs and tells Job to “curse God and die” (Job 2:9), but I love how Job responds. He says,

“What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” (Job 2:10)

I have learned and seen it so much on the mission that because we are following Christ, His gospel, His Church, on the covenant path, or whatever it may be, that our life should be smooth sailing. However, it is usually the opposite. To quote my mom, “As a matter of fact, you are going to have trials along the way BECAUSE you are on the right path. You should expect wind and waves and opposition because you are going in the right direction!” Give thanks for everything, even the trials that strengthen our faith and testimony in Jesus Christ and help us learn to come unto Him.

Praying for you all! Lmk what’s going on in your lives! mwcurtis@missionary.org
